Jytte Guteland is a Member of the European Parliament for the Swedish Social Democrats since 2014. She is a full Member of the Committee on Environment and a substitute for in the Legal Affairs Committee.
Guteland has a master’s degree in Economics from Södertörn University. She was a member of the national executive board of the Social Democratic Youth Organisation (SSU) from 2005 to 2007 with responsibility for welfare issues, and was then the Chair of this organisation from 2007 to 2011.
She has also been a political advisor at the Ministry of Finance and at the Ministry of Education, as well as project manager for the Swedish think tank organisation Global Challenge (Global Utmaning).
She is actively engaged in the work for human rights, and is the Chair of the Swedish Committee on Iran.
